There are two types of "Quels":
Stories that happen in the same universe and timeline as the original book, and continues on the story of the original, taking place after it.
Stories that happen in the same universe and timeline as the original book, and extends the original story back into the past (it takes place before the original story, as opposed to the sequel taking place after), usually revealing information wanted by the audience.
Key Elements of a Sequel
(Please note that these individual elements are not in Category:Elements.)
- Extra characters:
- In a sequel, add one, two, or maybe even a few more characters to your ensemble. It is also suggested that you kill a character off to make the rest of the ensemble more vengeful, inducing character development.
- In a prequel, either use the older characters in the original story as they were young, or if you want to go further back in time, change your whole cast to new characters (unless a character in the original story lives for a long time, and he's important).
